The Stats

Miss Kate had her four month check-up and shots today. She was quite the trooper with the whole ordeal considering we ended up being there for TWO hours. Although her weight gain is fine, eating is not a fun time for Katelynn, so she also got a prescription for antacids that will hopefully help her out. We'll see how it goes. So just how big is my munchkin?

Weight: 12 lbs 4 oz, 19th percentile
Length: 24 1/4 inches, 48th percentile
Head Circumference: 16.2 inches, 53rd percentile

She's a skinny little thing, but is her percentile is actually on the rise!

Our New Relatives

Because we have an open adoption, we have the privilege of knowing Katelynn's birthfamily. This past Saturday, we got hang out with Katelynn's grandma and aunt. We had lunch at Panera (my favorite), and then did a little shopping for Miss Kate. Grandma got Katelynn the cutest little dress to wear to her Uncle Andrew's wedding this summer. Hopefully she'll be big enough to fit in it by August! Her aunt and Jocelyn got her a stuffed Dumbo and a little Piglet (which you can see in the pictures below). Katelynn proceeded to immediately chew and snot all over poor little Piglet. Guess she likes it!

One of our social workers said it's like getting a new set of in-laws. So welcome to the family!

Four Months

Yesterday, my little girl turned FOUR months old. I can hardly believe how fast she is growing up. We go to the doctor on Thursday for her check-up and shots, so we'll find out just how big then. This month she has started laughing, which is super cute. She's rolled over a couple of times and can bear all of her weight on her legs when standing. She loves to stand up so she can look around, and she loves taking walks.

Here she is yesterday at four months wearing the same outfit we brought her home in (except the onesie is a bigger one). Notice the sock that always goes missing...
Mom, I'm tired of this photo shoot!
Grandpa Jim came to town on business last week, so we got to spend a few days with him.
She loves to stand up and play in her jumper.
We went on a walk a couple of days ago. The last time she will wear her newborn sized hoodie...

More Photos

Just a couple more photos of Katelynn that I had to share...
Here she is on Easter
And look at her smile in her new bathrobe from Tucker's Uncle Johnny and Aunt Dale.
I'm sure my opinion is a bit biased, but I think she is about the cutest baby I've ever seen!

Texas

We spent March 26-April 3 on another trip! This time visiting Texas with our friends Paul and Anne. We flew into Houston and spent a few days touring around and visiting their families. Paul parents were ecstatic to have Katelynn in the house. Then we drove to Austin to visit our good friends the Lees. Sam, Paul, and Tucker spend a couple of days at a church conference, and Carol, Anne, and I got to spend the days shopping and hanging out with Jocie and Katelynn.

Back when the Lees lived in Seattle, the seven of us (minus Katelynn because she wasn't born yet) used to hang out and have dinner every Thursday. Here we all are again after a good tex-mex dinner.
Enjoying the tank tops and capris!
A little too much shopping and not enough napping for Jocie...
One day Carol and Anne graciously indulged my heart's desire to have lunch at Cracker Barrel. Here's Jocie and Kate rocking on the porch while we waited for Carol to get the car. Jocie loved hanging out with Katelynn, and got very good at participating in baby talk. When Katelynn would cry in the car, Jocie would look at her and go "sh, sh, sh... sh, sh, sh..." It was very cute.
And finally it was time to return to Seattle. Here's the travelers taking one last photo back at Paul's parents' house before we went to the airport. Notice that we are all sporting the traditional Seattle black attire, which was not planned at all! I think we were just all getting prepared to return to the land where the sun never shines.I'm glad to be back in my own bed, but it was sad to return the capris, tanktops, sunscreen, and baby sun dresses to the back of the closets to wait for the Seattle summer in August.
