Three Months

Well, three months has come and gone, and I failed to post an update! Katelynn was weighed on the 20th and was up to 10 lb 9 oz, which is pretty good considering how sick she was last month. We ended up visiting the doctor again on the 26th, and she had gained six ounces in six days despite the fact that she hadn't been eating well! So as of the 26th, Miss Kate was 10 lb 15 oz and 22.75 inches long. My tiny girl is getting so big. She smiles all the time, tries to laugh, holds her head up very steady, and is able to bear all of her weight on her legs when you try to get her to stand up. She loves to suck and chew on everything, and she wants to sit/stand up all the time so that she can look around. We are currently in TX visiting some friends, so I'll have some more photos to post soon.

Visiting Montana

We spent March 11-18 in Montana visiting our families. All of the grandparents, aunts, uncles, great-grandparents, and other extended family and friends were happy to meet Miss Kate. Here's some photos of our cutie with her family.
Playing with Grandpa Ben (Jen's dad)
Eating with Grandma Sue (Jen's Mom)
Sleeping with Uncle JT (Jen's bro)
My grandma, aunts, and cousins on my mom's side of the family came down one day with loads of presents for Katelynn. Here is the four generation photo every child needs! Great-Grandma Pam, Grandma Sue, Mommy, and Katelynn. Here's my mom with her three sisters in order from youngest to oldest: Laurie, Janie, Marcia, and Sue. And of course Marcia's granddaughter Megan wanted to join in the fun!
Hanging with Papa (Tucker's dad)Sleeping in the cradle brought by Great-Grandma Jean (Tucker's grandma). Unfortunately the pictures we got with her and Katelynn didn't turn out so hot.
Katelynn's one-and-a-half year old cousin Tithen was not too fond of all the attention she was getting at first. But he eventually warmed up to her. Thanks to grandma Joan who got Katelynn a new bumbo chair. (Unfortunately the photos we have with grandma also didn't turn out well and somehow we failed to get any pictures of Katelynn with Tithen's parents: Uncle Casen and Aunt Spring.)
Eating Bagels with Uncle Andrew and (almost) Aunt Crystal. They are getting married August 9th.
Saying good-bye to Aunt Anna and Mike (who may be Uncle Mike someday)We went to our friend's wedding and had fun dressing Katelynn up.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! I don't know if she has any Irish in her, but with a name like Katelynn, she gets to celebrate anyway.
And finally, we had a lot of fun in Montana, but Katelynn was missing her best friend Diesel!
Grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, and cousin Tithen, we miss you and hope you come visit us soon!

Legally Free!

Yesterday Katelynn's birth father's rights were terminated, eliminating the last barrier to us adopting her. We're now cleared for the final hoop of hiring a lawyer and coming before a judge to have the adoption finalized. Katelynn will then get a new birth certificate with "FitzGerald" as her last name. It will probably take 8 or 9 weeks for our lawyer to get together the paperwork she or he will need from our adoption agency and us, and then get it all processed by the courts and secure us a time in front of a judge. End of May hopefully!

Deep Thoughts (not really)

On Friday, Katelynn and I got to hang out with Sarah and Diesel. Baby Diesel is 6 weeks old and Miss Kate is 11 weeks, but look at how similar they are in size. I'm pretty sure Diesel even has a pound on Kate! We'll find out when they have checkups in a few weeks...
Another cute outfit from Grandma Joan. The sun was shining on Wednesday (a rarity in Seattle) so I thought, "Time for that cute spring outfit." But unfortunately the temperature was not quite up to my expectations. Maybe in a couple of weeks we can try again!
And this photo is for Lisa and Susie. I totally don't get the sizing of baby clothes. Katelynn is only 10 lbs and 2 months old. This whole outfit is 3-6 month size and fits great with the pants just a tad long. But Kate still fits into several of her newborn size clothes for 5-8 lb babies, and some of the 0-3 month clothes are still too big. Who came up with this system anyway?!?

Visitors

Aunt Anna and Uncle JT came for a visit last week. Uncle JT had never feed a baby a bottle or changed a diaper before! But Aunt Anna was an old pro of course.

Sickness

We've had a bit of a traumatic couple of weeks in the FitzGerald household. Both mommy and baby have been really sick. A week ago Sunday, we even ended up in the emergency room at 3 AM with our little girl after an all night crying session, a fever, and an upset stomach. Luckily everyone is on the mend, but we now know how to suction her nose, administer tylonel, and even take a rectal temperature. I was wondering where my owners manual was these past two weeks!
After getting home at 7 AM from our ER visit, mommy and Katelynn crashed on the couch so daddy could get some uninterrupted sleep.

Uncle JT

Sorry about the whole sideways thing again. Guess I don't learn from the mistakes of others!
